BU1 · Full-time
Mechanical Design Engineer
Bangalore
Role Overview
Take mechanical designs from concept to parts that can actually be made — enclosures, mechanisms, assemblies and the drawings a vendor can build from, across every product in the studio.
Responsibilities
Own mechanical design end to end on assigned projects — concept, detail design, release and support through first article
Design enclosures, internal structure and mechanisms for consumer products across plastic, sheet metal and machined parts
Produce complete drawing packs with correct GD&T, and treat the drawing as the deliverable rather than the model
Run tolerance stack-ups before prototyping, and act on the result rather than filing it
Design for manufacture against a named process — draft, wall thickness, undercuts, bend allowances, ejection — and know the cost consequence before the design is frozen
Build, finish and test your own prototypes, and diagnose failures with evidence rather than opinion
Work directly with vendors on quotes, samples and first article inspection
Work with industrial designers on the surfacing-to-structure boundary, and with electronics on board space, connector access and thermal paths
Document your work so someone else can pick it up without calling you
Requirements
3–6 years designing mechanical parts for products that were actually made, not just modelled
Strong parametric CAD with a clean, editable feature tree — SolidWorks, Fusion, Creo or NX — and enough surfacing to work with an industrial designer's geometry
Real DFM knowledge in at least two of: injection moulding, sheet metal, machining, casting
You have produced drawings with GD&T that a vendor built from, and you can defend every tolerance on them
You have been through at least one first article or tooling trial and can describe what went wrong
Hands-on — you print, machine, assemble and test your own parts rather than handing them to a technician
Based in Bengaluru or willing to relocate; this is an on-site job
Qualifications
Degree or diploma in mechanical, production or design engineering
Consumer product experience, particularly at low to mid volumes
Exposure to FEA, thermal analysis or physical validation testing
Familiarity with sealing and ingress protection, or with battery-powered portable products
